Things We Don’t Talk About

When I was a little girl somebody told me that if you press slightly above one’s collarbones, they are surely going to die within minutes. We will all die one day, but I found the thought of helping someone with it really disturbing.

In the 9th grade we watched a special music video during our Theory of Culture class; the vocalist was singing about all the gangster movies he watched and how they influenced him, giving the idea of killing another person. In the real world. Sadly enough things got worse, as reality isn’t as pretty and funny as all the movies trying to represent it.

I sometimes get scared thinking about the pale fragility of our bones and how easy it is to break them. Some things are inevitable though, and it’s only a matter of timing.
